As the events of January 6, 2021 were unprecedented, finding an appropriate poster to represent them was a challenge. Most of CSPG’s posters—for good reason—focus on brutality by the police, not brutality against them. We are thus using an editorial cartoon by David Horsey, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for The Seattle Times, to represent these terrifying events and the possibly even more terrifying Republican responses. Time magazine called the Capitol attack “the most documented crime in history.” But the violence against the Capital Police didn’t end on January 6, as many Republicans continue to deny the seriousness of the events, and talking heads at Fox News attempt to discredit the police who are testifying by calling them “actors.” When will facts matter?
