More journalists were killed Monday during an Israeli airstrike on Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza. The journalists worked with Reuters, the Associated Press, Al Jazeera and the Middle East Eye.

The names of journalists killed this week are:

Ahmed Abu Aziz

Hatem Khaled

Husam al-Masri

Mariam Dagga

Moaz Abu Taha

Mohammad Salama

Journalistic coverage of Gaza is vital for its citizens’ survival and for war time accountability, but Israel has banned international journalists from entering Gaza. Not only are journalists banned, but more members of the press–nearly 200–have been killed in Gaza since 2023 than were killed worldwide in the prior three years.

In addition to the journalists, health aid workers and civilians were also killed in the strike. Nasser Hospital is the last functioning hospital in the region. As of August 27th, the ongoing famine has also caused hunger-related deaths for 313 people, including 119 children.

The targeting of journalists is a war crime.

The targeting of health workers is a war crime.

The targeting of civilians is a war crime.
