SUBVERTISEMENTS:
Using Ads & Logos for Protest & Solidarity
CSPG's 2025 exhibition, Subvertisements, features posters that remix and parody well-known logos and advertising imagery to draw attention to social issues and protest injustice.
05.24.2025-07.11.2025
On view @
Mercado La Paloma 3655 S Grand Ave \ Los Angeles, CA 90007
Open: Sun to Thurs, 9am - 9pm \ Fri & Sat, 9 am - 10 pm
Some posters promote real boycotts against real products, such as Gallo Wine, Nestlé, Coca Cola, and Tesla. Others are fake ads about real issues, including the Viet Nam and Iraq wars, climate catastrophe, and genetically modified food. Corporate logos are used to make anti-corporate statements about globalization, consumerism, and worker exploitation.
Whether the posters in Subvertisements amuse or enrage, their purpose is to encourage us to look at the world and our role in it more critically.
