The event is aligned with the nationwide initiative, the 2018 NEA Big Read, which chose Claudine Rankine’s bold book, Citizen An American Lyric, to read this year. Citizen recounts mounting racial aggressions during her encounters with colleagues in twenty-first-century life, with the police, and in the media.
