Applications Open: 2023 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Summer Internship

The Center for the Study of Political Graphics has been awarded a grant from the Getty Foundation to hire one undergraduate student for a summer Collections & Research Internship. The intern will receive a stipend of $6,800 for a full-time, ten-week period. Internship begins in June and concludes in August 2023.


Qualification and Eligibility Requirements:


Applicants must:

  • Be of a group underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent.

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in either a bachelor’s degree program or an associate’s degree program. Students who graduated the semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible.

  • Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarter of college by June 2023.

  • Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.

  • Reside or attend college in LA County

  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.


CSPG is seeking an intern with a background in the Humanities, such as art history, history, political science, etc., to work directly with historical and contemporary social movement posters. The intern will catalog and digitize posters, help update CSPG’s online finding aid to improve access to the collection, and assist with preliminary research for an upcoming exhibition with the working title “Race, Lies & Stereotypes: Posters on Racism & Anti-Semitism.” Work must be completed during CSPG’s operating hours, M-F 9am-6pm.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Archivists in all aspects of CSPG’s collection digitization project

  • Catalog posters on both an object and collection level within a museum-style collections management system

  • Locate posters and prepare images for curatorial consideration in CSPG’s upcoming exhibition
