Minneapolis has been inundated with the largest deployment of ICE officers seen yet in an American city. The city shut down its schools last week after ICE agents physically abused and pepper-sprayed children and staff leaving Roosevelt High School. The aggression culminated last Wednesday when ICE agent and Iraq War veteran Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good, a peaceful legal observer in her car, as she was driving away from the officers.
The entire incident was caught on video taken by observers. Despite it being clearly murder, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem instantly claimed Good was a domestic terrorist who was weaponizing her vehicle. The FBI has taken control of the investigation, and Trump has threatened to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act to quell persistent protests. Since Good's shooting last week, ICE agents in Minneapolis have shot a man in the leg, tear gassed infants, and arrested people sitting in traffic for "obstruction."
Los Angeles resident Keith Porter, Jr. was also murdered by an ICE agent during a New Year’s Eve celebration outside his home. Porter fired a celebratory shot in the air and was then shot by an off-duty ICE agent who also lived in the building. Los Angeles officials have done nothing to acknowledge or seek justice for Porter’s murder.
Good’s murder led to over 1,000 protest events across the U.S. this past weekend. Her death has received the most publicity, but 2025 was the deadliest year for ICE victims in more than two decades. Thirty-two people died in ICE custody last year. Most were denied medical care and died in detention centers of seizures, heart or respiratory failure, strokes, tuberculosis, or suicide.
These murders and deaths by negligence are inevitable when an inherently violent agency hires en masse with insufficient background checks and severely reduced training. Stephen Miller stated that ICE officers "have federal immunity." The Trump administration is proving that ICE agents can get away with murder.

No War on Iran

Meanwhile, enormous demonstrations have swept Iran since late December, protesting the weakened economy and aging authoritarian theocracy. The Iranian government shut down the Internet and international phone calls, but recent information that was leaked out reveals that at least 2,637 people have been killed and more than 16,700 detained. The current unrest is the largest seen since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
President Trump has threatened to intervene if the Iranian government continues to attack anti-government protesters. His administration has also placed a 25% tariff on countries that trade with Iran and suggested a regime change similar to Venezuela. Iran responded that it is ready for war. Trump’s hypocritical claim to defend democracy is obvious when he supports the murder of protesters in his own country and is actively working to overthrow two other oil-rich countries–Venezuela and Greenland.
US intervention in Iran didn’t start with Trump. In 1953, the US and Great Britain overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran to have access to the oil. To protect US interests, the Shah was installed. The 1979 revolution overthrew the Shah's monarchy, but the authoritarian Ayatollah Khomeini took his place. And now the Shah’s son wants to come back. When will we ever learn? Most Iranians seek to overthrow all tyranny: "No to the Shah, no the Sheikh."
Ignoring these violent crimes will come at a high price. We must face the danger in front of us now and loudly demand:
ICE Out of Everywhere!
No War!
We Have a Constitutional Right to Protest!
Protect Democracy and Protesters Everywhere!
