CSPG’s Poster of the Week promotes the 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing (1995), where 189 countries unanimously adopted a policy on gender equality and women's rights. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is now considered the key global policy document on diverse women's issues, including: women and poverty, violence against women, women and health, and supporting girls.

On Wednesday, more than 20 survivors of sexual abuse by Jeffrey Epstein assembled on Capitol Hill to share their stories and demand that Congress release the “Epstein files”–documents that would reveal the names of people who actively participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse and trafficking of up to 1,000 girls and young women. The survivors also announced that they will work to confidentially compile their own list of people they know to have been involved in their abuse.

Pressure has mounted throughout the summer for the government to release the Epstein files so that all people involved in Epstein’s trafficking ring may be held to account. However, in July, the FBI released a memo claiming that a review of the files “revealed no incriminating ‘client list’.” Although Donald Trump campaigned on releasing the now infamous list, he is now calling the demands to release the files “a Democrat hoax.”

Earlier this week, a Republican-led House of Representatives committee released more than 33,000 pages of files, but this is less than 1% of the materials gathered by the FBI, the majority of which had already been made public. A bipartisan bill is now being presented to Congress to force the release of all materials. All Democrats and 4 Republicans have signed on, but the bill needs 2 more signatures to pass.

If you live in a district with a Republican Congressperson, call them today and demand justice for the survivors and accountability for the abusers.

Stand with survivors!

Believe survivors!
