Hi all! My name is Saúl (he/they) and I am studying Latin American History at @haverfordedu. This summer I served as the Getty Undergraduate Archive and Research intern at CSPG. Amidst my daily activity with the archive’s posters, I was reconnected with this one, which I had seen often in protests and academic spaces. The poster shows how U.S. acts of aggression—depicted here through a coiled chain—remove the possibility for “freedom of expression. ” As a young person working towards the abolishment of varying ongoing US imperialist interventions, this poster speaks to me and makes me feel part of the prolonged struggle towards ending the U.S empire.
