The Center for the Study of Political Graphics (CSPG) has been awarded a grant from the Getty Foundation to hire one undergraduate student for a summer Collections & Research Internship. The intern will receive a stipend of $6,400 for a full-time, ten-week period. Internship begins June 2022.
Qualification and Eligibility Requirements:
Students must:
Be of a group underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latinx, Native American, Middle Eastern or Pacific Islander descent.
Be a currently enrolled undergraduate. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2022. Students who graduated after April 1, 2022 are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)
Reside or attend college in Los Angeles County
Students who have previously served as Getty Marrow Summer Interns at CSPG are not eligible
Collections & Research Internship
CSPG is seeking an intern with a background in the Humanities, such as art history, history, political science, etc., to work directly with historical and contemporary social movement posters. The intern will catalog and digitize posters, help update CSPG’s online finding aid to improve access to the collection, and assist with preliminary research for an upcoming exhibition. Work must be completed on-site at offices in Culver City, during CSPG’s operating hours (9am-6pm, Monday-Friday)
COVID-19 Protocol: CSPG requires full COVID-19 vaccination for all employees and interns, subject to limited, legally required exceptions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Archivists in all aspects of CSPG’s collection digitization project
Catalog posters on both an object and collection level within a museum-style collections management system
Locate posters and prepare images for curatorial consideration in CSPG’s upcoming exhibition
